- The days on my alien species' home planet are ~60 hours long

- Their eggs always hatch around dusk or dawn, giving the individual their moiety …

- … because the first 30 hours shape their future development a lot.

- it is in adolescence these differences become pronounced

- The eggs need a certain fungi in the ground to survive, growing roots to do so. Sometimes two eggs in the same nursery intertwine, giving rise to their version of 'twins'

I'll bite!

1: Takes place in Ontario in 1976. Coffee shops are far and few between.

2: The far north is flat out bush country. Like today.

3: Weird research grant given to pretty, rich Masters student. Poor friend did all the work.

4: There's a monster in the woods. And a boor in the house.

5: Lack of social media (or even a phone line) makes everyone super reflective. Not all people are deep. But they are tasty.

3. Being someone's tool makes choice difficult.
4 If you stay true to your principles, others will notice. Whether that's good or bad...?
5 Knowing that the world may end in 603 days if you don't do something is very motivating.
