Okay, so for those of you who enjoy & use #Misskey (like me), @syuilo needs your help.

When I was surfing on #Twitter I noticed this post from the official Misskey account there:

To summarize what was typed in Japanese:

Misskey.io is run by a small group of individuals.The number of users has increased rapidly since November last year, and currently over 120,000 users are using it.Last month's server bill exceeded 2 million yen and we are on the verge of bankruptcy, so if you can afford it, we would appreciate it if you could support us.https://go.misskey.io/donateAwhile back (before I joined Misskey) I wrote about the $2 challenge: https://darnell.day/happy-thanksgiving-everyone-plus-the-two-dollar-challenge

Basically, if every user of an instance donates $1 a month towards the server/instance that they are on (which is about ¥‎133 per month) & $1 a month (or ¥‎133 per month) towards the software, then every instance would be fully funded enough to buy enough server space & hire staff on livable wages to support further development.

#Mastodon is already reaching this right now, & I believe other #Fediverse platforms can as well—especially Misskey!

I have already committed $10 per month (or ¥‎1,330 per month) to help keep https://Misskey.io alive, but I can not do it alone.

@pixel I concur! Operational costs on some servers are hundreds of dollars per month now (one surpassed $2,000 per month!).
