Looking over a 2022 strategy discussion a few of us had over the need to #FundTheFediverse. Actually, the ideas a few of us were batting around hold up pretty well. (cc: @bart )

So yesterday I spoke of the need to #FundTheFediverse - to build critical infrastructure for the #Fediverse & the need to do so before the next item in the #MuskPocolypse occurs. (Which seems daily) These are my early ideas: in 🧵 form. 1. The first obvious thing is to donate to your local instance admin, find their Patreon, usually on their about page, & give even $1 dollar. Make it happen. Give $8 bucks if you want the added benefit of mocking Elon. Next one in the reply. #MastoAdmin

Liberapay is a project where you can make recurring donations to creators, instances, developers, etc. A bit like Patreon, Ko-fi.

It’s still early stages but #CoSocialCa is working on the #FundTheFediverse question by building a Canadian national tech cooperative to help people and originations get into the #fediverse with fewer barriers to entry.

Our goals include lowering the bar to entry by streamlining the technical side and lowering costs through the co-op model.
