I've written up today's experience with #145alive, especially the fun I had talking to members of the public about amateur radio.

"I really enjoyed today, it was far from the warmest or the most impressive DX-wise 145Alive I’ve done, but hearing so much activity always makes these days worth it."

Sitting on a cold wet hilltop is fun, actually: M7XXI/P 145Alive activation report Feb ’26 | Tom Probyn's Personal Site

Back home again and beginning to thaw off (though I still can’t feel my feet). Some really good contacts there, thanks all who took part. #145Alive
Really enjoying #145Alive at the moment from Weetslade hill North Tyneside IO95eb. Very very cold though, due a hot chocolate I feel! Also on #meshtastic #amateurradio
Will also try a bit of cheeky FT8, acoustically coupled from the phone to the radio on 144.174MHz. There are some grumpy people moaning about people doing FT8 during #145alive, but the way I see it, it’s all about maximum use of the band, and FT8 is helping keep #HamRadio alive.

Going to be up on a hill for today’s #145alive event - with 144 alive (2m SSB) as well. Plus taking the #meshcore node up too, to see if it can hear anything in this lonely neck of the woods.
Going to join the #145Alive event later today from a nearby hill - bit busy at its start.. then try some 2m DSB from the Quansheng.
Had my first attempt at #145Alive yesterday, up on a local hill in the car, with a moderate antenna and 10W. Joined a couple of nets, made quite a few contacts, including an operator who also lives in The Village, who I’d not met before. Excellent initiative; will repeat.

I've spent the day monitoring 2m for the #145alive event.

I now know more about local ham's medical problems than I did before.

No wonder I prefer fixed data modes.

If you're operational on 2m FM, listen out for our club station MX0WVV operating from JO02NN for the 145 Alive event. We have been allocated 145.575Mhz.
