#introduction I mostly play traditional #tabletop #RPGs like #GURPS (Finishing up a #Yrth game right now), #CallOfCthulhu and #Alternity. I also enjoy the occasional comedy game like #KoboldsAteMyBaby or #Paranoia

I'm writing my own game, tentatively called #100Swords since I'm bad at naming things, it is a d% system like Call of Cthulhu, but with some ideas from #Alternity and #Dnd and GURPS. Trying to make a d% system that isn't super lethal, as pretty much all d% systems are for some reason.

A mix of helping out the first towns being rebuilt, finding small towns that somehow stayed and need to reconnect to the larger country, exploring ruins of military and magical research facilities and possibly pressing into A's homeland and dealing with the abominations created there. #100Swords

Well, A loses, but it loses on Kingdom B's ground. It's leadership takes the flied in one final push, and are all wiped out.

Pretty much everyone flees from kingdom A to B, due to how much the rampant magical abuse damaged the land. However, the best farmland was between A and B, so that kinda needs to be reclaimed to feed everyone in the long term. So you are part of a force of veterans who help disarm and make safe that region. #100Swords

The setting I'm thinking of (Unnamed) is a post-war setting, a bit higher technology then a typical D&D setting, similar to Eberron. I'm the WORST at naming things, so nothing has names yet.

Basically: Kingdom A becomes ruled by wizards and invades Kingdom B in search of more magical resources. During the war A resorts to more and more polluting magic, and uses a lot of biomagical horrors in it's fight, to offset it's smaller population.

The wall I hit five years ago was doing spell lists and equipment lists: I have no inspiration for them and I just stopped writing. A while ago I realized if I gave it a distinct setting I could write to that, and that would help me avoid copying D&D too closely. It would limit the game to my setting at the start, but honestly, it's a fantasy heartbreaker, I'll probably be the only one to DM it. #100Swords
Basically: I like Skill based games since I find them to encourage creativity and be easier for new players. But all the ones I know of are either massive complex monsters like GURPS or designed around human-power level characters (Call of Cthulhu) or really tied to their settings (Runequest). So I thought I'd write my own. #100Swords

I'm VERY bad at naming things, so I'm calling it #100Swords for now, since it is a d% based game. I've got the core mechanics down, but now need to figure out some sample spells, HP and skill progression and so forth.

Which is where I stalled out as that is all really finicky and I'm not amazing at statistics, which makes this hard.

So I'm thinking of restarting work on the RPG I'm writing. I've been thinking about it and writing it on and off since 2010, and it's heavily based on the BRP system from Call of Cthulhu, but aiming at a power level closer to D&D.

#100Swords

@Canageek So those are all ideas for spells for the RPG I'm working on. I want to avoid the buff tax 3e had, where wizards basically existed to cast buff and save or suck spells. So I've focused on a few attack spells, which I'll probably expand, and a lot of cool spells that you can use creatively.
