And certainly don't do it if your page is full of keybindings that do other things. Your alternative search dialog cannot reliably load instantly, which means when I hit Ctrl+F and immediately type to search like people have for the last several decades, the page does random things or the user wholesale navigates away unintentionally.
This is a horrible experience. Stop trying to be clever. Stop hijacking Ctrl+F.

@bernasconi surely it will, Mastodon is much better at it due to the lack of "smart" algos pushing crappy content. #dotnet tag on here is already miles ahead of what it was on twitter.
The real challenge will come when it reaches critical mass to attract spammers.
