My Musical Crystal Cave interactive music & light art installed at Future Lab(s) Gallery in North Adams, MA as a part of their annual Glow Show collaborative tapestry.
Participants interact with the two levers on the wall which lets them "DJ" the artwork, independently controlling the generative rhythm and melody. Music is generated in real time with VCV Rack and animated as lights with TouchDesigner.

I made a new controller for the Musical Crystal Cave! This one has very Myst-y vibes and I'm very pleased with how it came out. This is a 100% custom controller that's largely 3D printed (except for all the wood).
The levers use magnetic rotary encoders and connect wirelessly via espnow to a dongle that outputs MIDI CC. I drive the animation of the artwork via TouchDesigner.
CAD was split between Openscad and OnShape.
My BFF wanted to have some light-up eyes for a costume that she's making, specifically ones that would react when she spoke. So I made her this little assembly, which holds some round LED boards a nice distance away from some LED black acrylic. I'm driving them with WLED running on an Adafruit Mini Sparkle Motion board so it can be powered off a battery pack. The built-in mic means she can have her voice-reactive eyes too!

The central hole is large enough that you can fit your whole hand in there and even hand-over-hand wind the lights onto the spool. You can also unwind it by letting it roll on your hand or arm. It's relatively thin so it'll stack more easily in my storage bins.
Overall this is a huge ergonomic upgrade from the previous 3D printed spools that I've been using for my lights (I currently have 5 strands of these 40m long animated lights and want to make more).
Today I designed and fabricated a new parametric spool to wind up my addressable fairy/pebble/seed LED light strands. This one holds 40 meters of lights which I use for trail lighting at outdoor events. I use it in conjunction with battery-powered WLED controllers for fun animated trail lights.
