@w6msu I guess Buddy the Elf would love green tea and maple syrup.

If you have a #qrz1 Explorer HT and programmed it with CHIRP and it does a weird thing where it's receiving a signal from a repeater but it will not break the squelch, I found a workaround that should at least fix the issue for some of the repeaters:

In CHIRP go to View -> Show Extra Fields

In your saved QRZ-1 config find the affected repeater(s)

Change the Optional Signaling option to OFF

Save the config and upload it to the radio

Fixing the Explorer QRZ-1/CHIRP ‘Tone Squelch’ Issue

I recently got my ham radio license. More on that in a different post maybe. For this post: The Explorer QRZ-1 handheld transceiver has a weird sort-of-bug and I think I figured out how to fix it.

@M0PWX @Stormgren very nice setup
@Stormgren @M0PWX am I am I don’t think I could do FT8 either. On the other hand, I don’t need that much power for that mode.
@M0PWX @Stormgren the digital most I’m running 50 to 75 W max
@M0PWX @Stormgren the digital most I’m running 50 to 75 W max
@Stormgren BTW, I got Hawaii on that antenna from Minnesota on 80m SSB. I was running about 600-700 watts
@Stormgren I have a fan dipole. 160, 80, 10, and 6. Works well, though I haven’t tried 6.
