Even the current iPad Pro pricing is hard to justify, as it's evolved more towards 'Mac clone, but worse’ over recent years and away from 'the future of computing’, magnifying its flaws and the limitations/restrictions of its ecosystem. Doubling the price from where it is today seems unconscionable https://9to5mac.com/2023/03/09/oled-ipad-pro-launch-price/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=mastodon
Apple reportedly planning major price increase for OLED iPad Pro

Apple is widely expected to debut its first iPad Pro models with OLED displays sometime next year. In the lead-up...

This exact thing plus a whole lot of audio/soundbar issues has been the norm for me for the last year. We've been trying out the Shield TV and it definitely lacks the polish and speed of tvOS but the remote stays connected and we don't randomly lose audio while watching movies anymore.

@dopeyeyes @birchtree This has been my experience as well. I bought the M2 iPad Pro last year, pushed Stage Manager to it's limits and it fell flat on its face. So, I pulled the trigger on a Surface Pro 9 and love it. Windows 11 is great and the Surface has matured into such a satisfying machine.

I don't know... This seems like exactly the sort of press you'd want in order to drum up hype around this thing. Everyone knows no one can actually die like in the show, so to get people to actually watch this they have to convince us that it's still difficult to withstand.

I have now finally seen episode 3 of The Last of Us.

This show is incredible. That was one of the best 80 minutes of anything I've ever seen on screen.

@viticci @ChrisLawley I know it's not an option for a lot of people who are otherwise rooted in the Apple ecosystem, but this is exactly why I pulled the trigger on a Surface Pro 9 and have loved it so far. It took a while, but the Surface platform has truly matured. And while I love the iPad and miss the amazing apps that have been developed for it, I got tired of waiting for every iterarion to the hardware and software to finally be the one to make it fully usable.
I’m with @viticci — I’ll be honest, I’ve been hiding from iPadOS 16 and Stage Manager, and pretending it doesn’t exist. It’s hard to imagine a single feature being enough to evaporate years of enthusiasm for a platform, so maybe it’s just the final papercut in a long line of disappointments and ‘maybe it’ll be better next year’s. I’m real tired of the iPad, the computer form-factor I prefer, being hobbled because Apple chose to build two competing form-factor-specific computing platforms

Shevon Salmon is one of the best wallpaper-makers out there and I don't see him get the attention he deserves 😁

Totally agree. I figure it will happen sooner or later and that's one of the more exciting prospects of Mastodon: how will people build different experiences on top of it?

I like the fact that mastodon.social is the biggest instance, but I would leave for an instance that is paid only, say $10/month, has a cool domain name, and thus can afford to raise the rate limits.

Mastodon.social feels like early Twitter both culturally (good), and fail-whale-wise (not good).
