Last week we participated in the science fair at the biocenter of @uni_wue with a 3d-printed quadrupole ion trap according to a paper from @cern (see https://scoollab.web.cern.ch/3d-printable-quadrupole-ion-trap). It was fun to assemble and in the end worked out just fine (just the video is slightly shaky)!
Thanks to @hirak_das13, @chillingpepper, Lakshita and @aretaon as well as the biocenter workshop for the work. Looking forward to using this for teaching 👨‍🏫

We are very happy to share our collaborative work on the discovery of PEX39, the first human #peroxisome biogenesis protein discovered in the last 20 years. #cellbio

Have you ever considered #massspec quality control to be interesting for students? We did neither until we submitted our first challenge to this year's Data Crunch Cup in #wuerzburg (dccw.de). Eight (of 27) candidates managed to calculate BSA peptide retention times from a mzxml-like json-file to collect points: https://2023.dccw.de/challenges#Qualit%C3%A4tskontrolle%20in%20der%20Massenspektrometrie-30 (only in German, unfortunately)
