I mostly post about fediverse, privacy, and gaming. With a smidge of random crap.

I used to boost more than I post, but I'm trying to be more active. Very occasionally blog. Relevant links pinned

Oh, PeerTube (an open, self-hostable, decentralized video platform) is still accepting crowdfunding donations for their mobile app, and sadly is still missing quite a bit:

https://support.joinpeertube.org/en/

I'd love for it to become more popular. To me, personally, the lack of a mobile, but especially an AndroidTV app that can follow submissions on multiple instances, was always kinda a dealbreaker for me to use it regularly.

BUT I love the project and want it to succeed so we have a better YouTube alternative!

So, maybe you can also chip in, or just spread the word that it exists. ❤️

Let's popularize videos shared by the people, for the people!

This is exactly the type of car I've been looking for for several years. Cheap, modular, no built in spyware or smarts. 😍

Slate Auto introduced its first electric vehicle, a sub-$20,000 two-seater pickup with no paint, no stereo, and no touchscreen.

I'm seeing a lot of articles for "how to pre-order a Nintendo Switch 2" and I don't think the writers realize that basically no one wants one.

So what's FIRES? It's this project of mine: https://fires.fedimod.org — essentially a tool to enable groups of people to share moderation decisions, and is designed in a way that encourages people to review those decisions and apply as they see fit.

It's also a reasonably immutable changelog of those decisions, which means you can see when a decision was added and hopefully why.

The PineNote is here! I'm planning on making a hands on video to share my experience. Let me know if you have any questions you want me to try and answer. I don't plan to do technical tests but open to collaborating on it.

First impression, feels like a quality and sturdy device. Feels good in the hand, the texture is a kinda soft grippy plastic. Pen felt good, the writing friction seems ok, I don't want to make any software qualifications until I update the device but still happy with the out-of-box experience. The wake from sleep time is essentially instant.

@PINE64 great work on the PineNote, I'm very impressed with the hardware!

Edit 2: there's renewed interest in this post, feel free to check out the first impressions video (~6 mins, which has a good bit of usage footage), in case that post isn't visible to you.

Edit: Link to blog post with thoughts after day one. Since I'm on a single user instance most people may not see the thread with info that hasn't been boosted, the post has all of it.

Let me break it down for you in technical terms...
I was today years old when I did a websearch for "medication for runny nose" and learned that the technical term is "Rhinorrhea" 😭
I love DST and want it year round and I'll die on this hill

So I lost my jingpad when I moved in 2022. I just found it. Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket is I can put on it? Ideally I'd like it to be Linux, not Android. It's starting to look like my options are cybersecurity nightmare, or paperweight.

Boosts appreciated!
