I am an operator on VHF/UHF/HF. On HF, I mostly operate on 10 to 20 meters. My HF radio can do 6 to 160 meters, but I have to set up and take down my antenna. I am also on DMR, but mostly only use DMR repeaters. I call myself a wandering ham because I don't have a ham shack or a set location to transmit from. I prefer open-source and free software. #VHF #UHF #HF #DMR
This weekend will be the ARRL January VHF Contest on amateur bands above 50 MHz. Check out the rules on the ARRL website. #ARRL #ARRLVHF https://www.arrl.org/january-vhf

The American Radio Relay League (ARRL) is the national association for amateur radio, connecting hams around the U.S. with news, information and resources.

I'm thinking about getting a DMR hotspot since DMR repeaters are finicky. I travel in an RV and would use campground WiFi and my phone hotspot to connect to DMR hotspot. I would not be able to connect to WiFi router, and I currently cannot build one. I used an Anytone 168UV. Do you have any recommendations on DMR hotspot? #DMR
I am made my first contact on FT8 from Pennsylvania using my Yaesu FT-891 with Digirig on 10 m . I got all the setting correct! #FT8 #Digirig

I see generative AI on the web the same way I see forever chemicals in the real world. The effects may not be immediately apparent but they are poisoning mankind. Those who acquired knowledge and skills in the before era will be fine, but newer generations won't have the same reference points to tell reality from fiction. They will search for "baby peacock" on Google and have no reason to believe the actual birds look any different to what they're shown. I find that sad somehow.
