Having been here since 2016, I can tell you there is definitely no such thing as a consensus on usage of content warnings on the fediverse. It's a decentralized network that doesn't belong to any one party, so by definition there is no single culture on it. Different corners have different expectations and customs.

Specifically, I'm not noticing any firehose of spam *yet*, but there's definitely a lot of accounts that are trying to build up trust so they can spam.

These accounts have MLM, casino, lifestyle, and a bunch of other keywords in the bio.

I remain genuinely and pleasantly shocked that in the course of 10 days or so, we all just went, “no way, eff this, we’re going to @Mastodon”, and now we’re just here and people are so nice and writing alt-text in their images and sharing great stuff and using content warnings and everything. Obviously none of this would have been possible without years of work by #Fediverse / #ActivityHub devs that came before. Even so, this is really something, no? 😃

199,430 is the number of new users across different Mastodon servers since October 27, along with 437 new servers. This bring last day's total to 608,837 active users, which is without precedent the highest it's ever been for Mastodon and the fediverse.

1. Hablamos desde la ignorancia
2. Debemos ser respetuosos de las nuevas redes
3. Descubro gratamente que esto es más #KnowledgeGathering que #Politics y eso es muy bueno
4. #Twitter es súper tóxico
5. Me va a gustar aquí y amo las vacas que giran
