@vintagebuses I think I tried knoppix from one of their cover disks. That *nearly* got me started, but it was Ubuntu 8 that finally became my first daily driver Linux a couple of years later.
Stayed with Ubuntu right up till a couple of years ago when a snap command line utility wouldn't let me merge PDF files because they weren't in my home directory. Still running Ubuntu server, it has always been rock solid π
This was the magazine that got me started with Linux. It had a DVD with a mix of Linux operating systems. I chose Ubuntu and installed it on an old laptop.
Twenty years later and my main mini PC runs Linux Mint (based on Ubuntu), with another laptop running Windows 11 for two programs that still refuse to run on Linux, even with Wine. I hardly use the laptop.

I'm finally at the home stretch of finishing off my website. I had to stop working on it for a while due to other commitments, so now I can get going again.
I need your help - please boost.
This is a 1:76 scale bus, with no box. It has been crudely painted with Glasgow Corporation livery. On searching the internet, nothing came up and AI suggested it could be a Daimler CWA6 with the Waymann body.
There is no model # , all that's on the underside is 'Corgi', 'Waymann' and 'Corgi Original Omnibus'. The white lettering came up with nothing.
The adverts don't match anything online either. Do you know the real bus's specifications?
One road that swallows cars in North Dakota when it's raining.
Here in the UK we have that many potholes in our roads, our cars are getting battered, whatever the weather.
You guys know how much I love the 1928 Leyland Titan TD1. Well on my recent visit to Bridgeton bus garage - it had gone π‘ . Sir Brian Soutar had the audacity to take my bus on tour!
Well, I wasn't having it. So I found out where the bus was - and I stole it. Don't believe me? Well here it is parked outside my house. Serves Sir Brian right for leaving the bus unlocked.
Not been cynical, but I've seen it on the news so many times with EVs and eBuses, when one catches fire, it could take the whole lot with it.

I put a wee slideshow up on TikTok of some of my photos when I visited the Greater Manchester Transport Museum.
