A #California #farmworker died on Friday from injuries sustained a day earlier when #US #immigration agents raided a cannabis operation & arrested hundreds of workers, according to a farmworker advocacy group.

Dozens of #ImmigrantRights activists faced off w/ #federal agents in rural Southern California on Thursday. It was the latest escalation of #Trump's campaign for #MassDeportations of immigrants in the US.

The use of AI by lawyers in court is not itself illegal. But Wang found that the lawyers violated a federal rule that requires lawyers to certify that claims they make in court are "well grounded" in the law. Holy cow, as an American, I wasn't aware of the Horizon IT scandal. ~1,000 postal workers were wrongfully prosecuted for theft and other crimes, imprisoned, and forced to repay tens of thousands of pounds. 13 of them committed suicide! But it was an IT error! AI will make this worse.

Last time I went for an oil change there were three lads struggling to push a car up a tow truck ramp. They'd just fallen back as I pulled up, and were struggling to try again.

They got the car up in the end because there wasn't anyone around telling them they were doing it wrong or explaining gravity to them or saying that there was no way they'd ever get it up so why bother, instead there was just a random bloke who made it four guys instead of three and the car went up and a little while later that bloke got his wallet out to pay for the oil change and got told to put it away and everybody had a generally nice day.

That's one way that real life is different from the internet

The actual cycle of Twitter is that it was exploited by liars and Nazis in 2016 and so the company tightened its moderation rules and then a bunch of people on the right caught up in those rules decided it was biased and that included Musk who bought it and has now automated the Nazi lies.

@hacks4pancakes I tend to think Twitter was purchased to garrote the single largest global clearinghouse of journalism and civil oversight ever created. It was always a controlled demolition and Musk was always a Nazi with a tech-bro PR firm on retainer.

The second largest stakeholder in Twitters buyout was a Saudi prince with his hands on the national sovereign wealth fund. They wanted it dead simply because of its part in the Arab Spring. Petro-autokrats and multinational tech firms like Microsoft/Google/Facebook/Nvidia/ect. are sharing a toothbrush. Together they incubated the human spoofing chatbots that have driven conversations increasingly devisive and toxic on social media platforms.

All the AI bullshit they are pushing as a unified front presently is better viewed as these same rackiteers rebranding that human spoofing software to recoup a decade long up-front investment.
