I have a deeply held belief that it is not possible to earn a spot among the highest class of #politicians and/or the 1% without being evil

I believe there is no such thing as a moral #president or #billionaire

I also believe that the outrage-inducing news cycle is purpose built to keep us distracted from these concepts and focused on hating one another
To me there is no #right or #left, only us and them

#politics #uspolitics #journalism #activism #unity

I recognize that this is deranged behavior but was any irl harm done? There’s legions of people like this out there and no limit on how many accounts you can block

If they doxxed you or showed up at your residence etc that’s one thing, but this seems like a report, block, and move on situation

They were definitely in the wrong, but as long as this remains online you have the power to wipe it from your mastodon experience

Surprise, it’s almost impossible to become a member of the 1%, a celebrity, or a politician if you’re a good person

Therefore most of the above are bad people

@thetyee

Every year people are surprised that not drinking poison every day can have health benefits

@nicolesandler

There are no moral billion+ $ companies

@orangeplus @JamesGleick

I use a network-wide adblock in my household, if ad-supported platforms die because of it that’s fine

@reuters

Why are people surprised anymore? There are no moral billionaires or presidents

@godpod

All high ranking politicians are bad people, you can’t climb the ladder otherwise

@cryptodon

So much hopium, also hilarious use of the word ‘industry’

@GeorgeMerl

It’s true that culture war topics have meaning and there are legitimate moves toward a better future

However, it seems that any time a topic hits the political limelight the majority of discourse has no actual substance, in that it is easily repeatable rhetoric

I believe the ‘neither cares about the working class’ take comes from the fact that it’s almost impossible to become a high ranking politician as a good person, so most politicians don’t actually care
