So here's the problem with certain journalists demanding quote boosts:

1. They already exist on the Fediverse
2. If you want them, you can have them
3. If you demand them from vanilla Mastodon, pay @Gargron
4. If you can't pay @Gargron, fundraise for him
5. With whatever happens, be kind to all Fediverse devs

If I seem salty, it's because you all need to understand that the Fediverse is not Meta or Twitter.

It's a bunch of devs working on their passion projects.

Again, be kind!

A lot has been written about how psychological safety leads to high performing teams.

A related characteristic I haven’t seen as much written about is trust. In fact, faith may be a better word than trust.

This is when you have absolute faith that a team member will handle a problem or problem area such that you don’t have to worry about it.

A key characteristic of high performing teams I’ve seen is when everyone has faith in the competence and ability of their peers.

It’s a great feeling.

Journalists will never stick around this app long term sadly unless it adds quote posting. We desperately need it to communicate effectively, build on each others ideas, and add crucial context to posts. These are things replies simply do not accomplish. Also quote posting or reblogging does not = harassment! Tumblr, for instance, has had the feature since the beginning. We need it here now too πŸ™πŸ»
@foxhkron It reminds me of this meme:
Apparently one factor in the trial's collapse was the AFP somehow obtained Higgins's psychotherapy records and passed them on to the defence. Quite understandably, this may have been a reason why Higgins was unable to bear cross-examination a second time.
The reason I mention it is because this is an increasingly common tactic in Australian Courts - strategic humiliation of (almost all female) litigants through forced disclosure of psychiatric evidence. 1/2 #auspol

Glass frogs are pretty much transparent. But they can't make their blood transparent, so when they sleep they store 90% of their blood in their livers which increases their transparency. Basically, they have their own natural invisibility cloak. 🀯

How Glass Frogs Weave the World’s Best Invisibility Cloak

The amphibians pull off a death-defying magic trick to stay hidden while they sleep.

Efficient should follow effective.

Sam Bankman Fried released on bail. The system works! πŸ˜ƒ Because bail is not designed to keep guilty or dangerous people off the streets and in jail. Bail is designed to keep *poor* people in jail.

"Jeffrey Dahmer, enters the room without cuffs?!
How the hell do we get stuffed
In the back of a cell on the isle
Ain't it wild?
What's 'criminal?'"

"The isle" is Riker's Island. Most people on Rikers are there for pre-trial detention.

Shameless plug: Addressr, my favourite Australian address lookup service, is now pay per use. No monthly fees. Great if you’re a #startup

Oh hell yeah. @mozilla is launching a Mastodon instance in early 2023! I’m very excited for this. Mozilla is really good at what they do. Firefox has over 200M monthly active users, and with any luck they’ll build better support for the fediverse into Firefox itself. Mastodon will greatly benefit from easy to use professionally run instances that can handle massive scaling https://blog.mozilla.org/en/mozilla/mozilla-launch-fediverse-instance-social-media-alternative/
