Looks like Year of the Rabbit in #MagicTheGathering will be celebrated via special promo cards in the Asia Pacific region, with no announcement of a Secret Lair drop like they've done for past lunar new years.

As a mtg and rabbit enthusiast I was hoping to throw thirty to fifty dollars on my first SL, but looks like that's not going to be an option.

2023 APAC League and The Year of the Rabbit

Hop into the Year of the Rabbit with the 2023 APAC League and region-exclusive promos.

MAGIC: THE GATHERING

well heck to a friendly casual game of Commander I guess

got podded up with a couple friends and one super serious new guy

new guy played like a tournament player, short, quick, snapping and flicking cards, never smiled

only participation in pregame discussion about what kind of experience we want to have for deck selection was saying his deck had no infinite combos

then he won turn 4 with an infinite combo

I just left

I would've liked to join my flgs's Dominaria Again draft, but work has ruined my hands, sleeving is painful, and I'm unable to shuffle unsleeved cards.

So I'm just sticking with Commander, where I can try to mash shuffle my existing sleeved decks, and there's three times as many fellow players I can ask to help shuffle.

I worry if I ask a drafter to shuffle my deck for me they'll be personally insulted and stick to the one accessibility rule in mtg.

Paizo is unlikely to pathfinderize the 5e SRD though. They already have their own Pathfinder 2 RPG, which is very different mechanically from D&D 5e.

I have yet to hear of anyone taking the 5e SRD and filling in the extras to make their own standalone product without paying royalties to WotC, with the intent that you can use 5e supplemental material with little to no changes.

#Paizo announces an Open RPG Creative license (ORC) in response to WotC's lack of response to their leaked updated #OGL. This one is actually for-realsies irrevocable and has a lot of RPG publishers signing on.

They also announce if #WotC wants to get litigious about trying to revoke OGL 1.0a, they've got lawyers standing by to fight it.

Paizo Announces a New Gaming License Amid Dungeons & Dragons' OGL Controversy

The Pathfinder and Starfinder publisher has finally issued a statement following a week of news about Wizards of the Coast's updates to the Open Gaming License.

looks like it's time to abandon the hashtag mtg in favor of only #MagicTheGathering, as people are using the former to talk about uspol

I hesitate to make the analogy, but sorta a Pathfinder 1 to dnd3, an X to dnd5. That is, an (at first) compatible game system that continues the spirit of the game system and its design.

Yes, I know Pathfinder 2 exists, but it is a very very different game than dnd5 in mechanics and spirit.

So, I'm sure people are going to be talking about it. With WotC trying to make the next edition of #dnd use more restrictive licensing (allegedly), kinda like they tried to do with 4e, is there going to be a third party product that takes the SRD5 and the #OGL 1.0a license and makes a competing system in the same spirit?

(continued)

for the first hour I was within lethal range of one of That Guy who seems to believe hygiene is for other people, not just like an honest day's living but reminded me of months old cigarette smoke and cockroaches

at least he left quickly

the rest of the night was paired in a pod with a guy with overpowered decks, which is fine when there's rule zero discussion, but it was with a 16 year old "this is my first deck" as another opponent
