@GM_Ray Can't offer any first hand advice, but I can relay something I heard about starting a podcast a while ago: Focus on your content first. Make sure it's something you'll have fun doing, either for the long run, or for a set period.
Less useful part of podcast advice was a microphone you already have (phone, webcam) and Audacity were enough to get started with test recordings and getting the hang of editing, as a sort of "session zero", to see how well you liked it and were comfortable keeping it up before investing time/money/effort into pro stuff. Might be something analogous to streaming with a phone or webcam by rigging up a makeshift stand? I've no experience in that regard.
If you peter out halfway through your second episode, for instance, you've lost nothing but a bit of time, and can look for something else to scratch that itch. Best case scenario, you've got some awkward first steps recorded that you can offer as patreon rewards later.
Good luck!
