When I Bookmark something, it's just for me.

When I Like something, it's just for me and the person who made the post.

When I boost something, it's because I want to share it with others.

There's no software in the background recording and evaluating my behavior so it can decide the best ads to show me, and what I should see or not see in my feed to increase my engagement.

It's pretty nice not being the product anymore and just enjoying the web again.

For all the new #TwitterMigration folks ...welcome! I know it's a wild time, but take a moment to curate and build up your follows here; reevaluate the kind of people and content you want to engage with, and then start having discussions...it can be really refreshing :)

Also, if your instance is running mastodon 4.x+, you can follow hashtags (some clients like tusky may not support it yet...the default mastodon app is great to also have!)

Oops. I accidentally deleted the original toot. I was trying to issue an update on my toot about twitter censorship and didn’t realize deleting a reply toot would bork the whole thread 🤦🏾‍♀️

From what I've gathered, it seems that Twitter blocking joinmastodon.com is a ~special case~ as the domain used to resolve to a spam website. I'm not sure how long the .com domain has been pointed to the official joinmastodon.org but recommend sharing the .org instead. #mastodon #twittermigration #Twitter

A lot of us moved our blogging to places like Twitter, because it was convenient and easier to be seen.

If this meltdown leads people to going back to their blogs, or at least learning the essential downside of centralization, that will be a positive outcome.
