Let’s end 2024 on a fine note - #pryesBrewing 2024 Lost Moon bourbon barrel aged Russian imperial #stout

Fabulous BA magic with chocolate, vanilla, and toffee/caramel notes and a bourbon finish. Smooth end to a bumpy annum!

I've got some Iridium thoughts I want to share, but just remembered its new years... I don't do it, but I know many do and I don't want these Iridium posts to get lost in the noise....
I might hold off?
Got a bit going on in the Iridium ACARS world, I'd like to share my thoughts and get guidance.

Chaos Computer Club has always interesting talks. This their subject I have followed for ten years:

On a personal note, my weeks holiday ends today. Back to slaving for the man tomorrow.
That means forum admin, product support, blogging about industrial automaton and oddly, some shaking my fist at #kismet and looking at porting the #wifydra feather code to an Arduino with an Ethernet shield.

More to come about this, but added a 'null' option to the search page (@SirListenalot noticed).
It will return msgs for any airframe that matches 'interest like '%null%' OR rego like '%null%' OR type like '%null%'
ie, the airframe details are unknown in the community ADSB db.
Much more soon.

Its 2024 and there is no github io markdown visual editor?
I have no idea how programmers do it. They are amazing.
With a good amount of swearing I cleaned up the 'interesting / notable flights' page.

msg by msg break down of interesting ACARS exchanges over a specific flight.

Rough notes on how to go about setting up the hardware and software for ACARS decoding.

While he was doing that, I was helping @Megaconstellati with some Iridium tweaks.
He moved to a better spec'ed PC and I needed to tweak a few things, to get him back in the database and back on the global map.
Do a search for 'IRDM-LBSF' to see the messages.

Website Updates:
In reviewing the site load times after the memory tweak last night @wiedehopf977 found a bug in the search page history database. I was not correctly getting the date/time to trim the db at 120 hours (5 days), it would some times be longer, rarely shorter. He fixed it for me.

My goal is a consistent 80 words per min at anything above 95% accuracy.
I've been sorta consistent from the start of this year, big 3 month gap due to work 'stuff' in the middle.
Touch typing is such a critical life skill. Teach your kids and yourself. Worth every hour of practice.
Oh & yes, PB.
Someone on Reddit asked where my site has VHF VDL ACARS ground stations.
I list them on the home page, but here is the best visual I can rustle up as not everyone knows airport ICAO codes off the top of their head.
USA and UK/EURO screenshots.
