Just a dude having fun working on the #Jellyfin #Roku client.

After 15 years of #webdesign I switched over to #programming. Because of this, I think of most programming problems in website terms.

YES!

I beat American McGee's Alice again!

Man, I love this #video #game.

Look ma' I've made it!

I'm now a normal user on #musicbrainz!

I always knew I was normal, now I can prove it 🤘

My #vinyl #record is still 2 states away and expected delivery is today.

Wait, this is what my #math teachers were training me for!

If the package leaves the distribution plant at 6:28am and must travel 642 miles, but crosses a timezone, how fast must it travel to be on my doorstep by 6:00pm?

It all seems so simple now 🤔

Conversely, perhaps your #TV is larger than my house and you want everything to be smaller because you have the space for it.

With the upcoming column count setting in #Jellyfin for #Roku you can increase the number of columns your libraries are displayed in up to 11 items. Making all the poster images smaller.

Sometimes you just need things on your #TV to be a little bigger.

With the upcoming column count setting in #Jellyfin for #Roku you can reduce the number of columns your libraries are displayed in down to only 6 items. Making all the poster images larger.

I've seen several requests to create a setting to hide the dropdown bar in #Jellyfin for #Roku.

I don't like this idea for a few reasons.

1. It permanently hides functionality
2. It permanently hides information

The dropdowns are how we let you know what filters are selected, what the search term is, etc. Permanently hiding this could be likened to hiding the URL bar in a browser. It doesn't make sense.

Instead, I've made it so the dropdowns hide after you scroll past the 1st row of items in the grid. This way, the screen context is set at the beginning so you know what you're looking at, then as you scroll it gets out of your way.

Scroll back up, and it will reappear just in time for you to access it and use the dropdown functions.

A feature request came in asking to allow users to enable/disable the watched check mark individually for each library.

Here's what I came up with.

A new setting button in the top left that opens the library settings menu. Currently, only 1 setting, but gives us room to expand in the future.

Finished #reading The Chinatown Death Cloud Peril #book for the 3rd time. I love the old #noir #detective style storytelling mixed with details of the old #pulp mazagines.

Next, based on a recommendation from someone here on mastodon that I can no longer find to give credit, I'm reading The #Vinyl Detective.

A mix of murder, mystery, and music?! I have high hopes!

If you're like me, you play multiple episodes in a row in #Jellyfin for #Roku and you're not always sure what the episode you've moved into is about.

So I've added a new button to the OSD that gives you the media overview text - the same content displayed on the detail screen.

Now I can read the media overview without stopping playback.
