Happy to say this punch needled dinoscape is finished even though my talk was rejected at PyCon

Some of the wool is from Romanian sheep and some from Australian ones and hand died .. safe to say it’s unique and it took years to make

Where should I submit my talk, I wonder?

Check out @ThePSF Board Timeline!

One can see that starting with 2014 the diversity on the board has started improving. Moreover
there are lots of new people getting elected on the board each year.

The first terms are highlighted in bright colors.

The PSF Diversity & Inclusion group is preparing a really cool event on January 31. Save the date! 🗓

Ever wondered about the development in the board elections of @ThePSF over the past years?

Did you know that there are 3 types of PSF members who can vote? Fellows, Contributing or Managing, and Supporting?

The PSF Diversity & Inclusion group is preparing a really cool event where you can ask anything about all these things.

We will announce it soon, so stay tuned!

In the meantime dive into this interactive chart on @observablehq

Meanwhile day 22 of the #adventofcode escalated.. again #adventofcode22

Walking on the Famara beach.. you see lots of tiny pieces of plastic brought in by the ocean waves. I found a paper where they gathered microplastic on a Lanzarote beach and analyzed it..

I love it when I find data for a vis and then notice interesting info for the next project. From tomatoes to colonialism..

It turns out that only 9 countries have neither colonised nor have they been colonised.

Updated: Fil pointed out that Congo was a missing country on the map.. upon checking .. there was an iso3 code mismatch..

I once heard that tomatoes do travel a lot to get on our plate.. especially the cherry ones.. this really made me sad.. as living in Germany means kinda boring tomatoes

And it's true .. tomatoes seem to travel the world!

And discovering all the things that @neocarto made possible with Bertin.js is lots of fun! This changes the fact that I used to dislike making maps :D

Finally getting around reading Resilient Management by Lara Hogan.. seems I needed a holiday for that. Greetings from Lanzarote! #bookclub #books

ITU estimates that about 66% of the world's population is using the internet. Looking at the split by gender and country, we still miss information for many countries.

From the data available, the difference between women with internet access and men is around 2.22% ..or 178 million women.
