Always is a very long time as well.

Please don't forget about these associated costs:
- Mining
- Manufacturing
- Transmission
- Cleaning
- Replacement
- Maintenance

Even just batteries and inverters to support your continuing use of solar and wind are likely to push your system costs above a nuclear-based supply after 20 years, for the same amount of delivered electricity.

TL;DR for Small Modular Reactors

The main blockers are:

- Policy
- Financing
- Continuity

In other words, political will is the only thing preventing cheaper electricity costs.

1) Fixing the voting system; by using approval or STAR voting methods. Plurality is the problem in the USA, and Ranked-Choice (RCV/IRV) only hides plurality behind complexity.

2) Demanding candidates support long-term energy planning programs.

These two goals must be achieved to sustain any country. Without a way to accurately gauge support, we can't promote long-term thinking in government.

Great actors are often terrible at science. This should not be surprising to anyone who attended a school with a theater program!

Ruffalo is an entertaining performer, but just like other activists from Hollywood, his support for terrible policies is deeply unfortunate.

We will continue to counter this misinformation that is funded by the fossil energy industry!

People complaining that the slow energy accumulated by these batteries is a problem aren't imaginative enough.

Personally, I'd take four of these and combine them with super capacitors to create a portable charger that is building up a charge while in storage rather than loosing the charge, like batteries do.

Combine that with a portable solar panel and you can keep your cell phone active while away from the grid very easily.
