He/him. writer/game dev. culture/political posting, politics are in all aspects of life, including creative pursuits.
don’t think of yourself as a refugee, refugees have real, hard things to deal with, think of yourself as a warlord expanding into new territory

I absolutely get people staying on Twitter due to large communities/resources that can't just be quick dragged over some where else.

HOWEVER, this doesn't excuse refusing to START working on that transition IMMEDIATELY.

Staying on Twitter still makes sense.
Staying ONLY on Twitter is just dumb.

twitter is now a party where the hosts have gotten way too drunk and are picking embarrassing fights with their guests and spilling wine all over their own carpets and detonating long-hidden bombs throughout all their social relationships, you love to see it, burn, bird site, burn
Accidentally created a masterpiece of German Expressionism.

The don’t put it in the paper I got mad meme has come to life.
Unrelated to bird app incineration, i’m actually really pissed off about Epic Games pulling most of the Unreal franchise off of storefronts and shutting down online services for them. What the fuck is up with that? UT 99 and 04 are some of the best shooters ever made, OG Unreal as well, why toss them like this?
Since shutting down servers doesn’t require delisting, why axe them entirely?
My best (coping) guess is that they’re planning on remaking them in UE5 or something along those lines.
like it or not (and i am of both minds), twitter’s advantage over all other social platforms was the number of journalists who are absolutely addicted to it, and culling all of the journalists who criticize him (there are at least four or five just in the last hour, from major outlets) is hilariously stupid from a business standpoint, because now *every* journalist is incentivized to pulverize you
if one hypothetically wanted to destroy twitter’s value as quickly as possible i suppose slashing the team and the most significant users and the appeal to advertisers is one way to do it

Twitter can ban whoever it wants to. It's a private company & has no obligation to platform anyone. That said, kicking people off for mocking the CEO is a disastrous business model for a business whose only value is the community it's built.

That this purge is being pursued by someone who already announced that he's open to running the company into bankruptcy is... a fact people shouldn't overlook.
