A recording of Minuet in G Major (on acoustic guitar), which I made today on my upgraded xubuntu system. My performance has improved since last year -- I have been practicing, but the sound is not yet as clear and crisp as I'm aiming for.
Feel free to dance to the music since a minuet is written for a dance by two people.

#Xubuntu #LinuxI found this fabled trail and it beckoned me to enter. After a half hour of walking, the trail had become less clear -- a thick layer of leaves covered it. Turning back would have been sensible but I pressed on until the trail vanished. Searching a while I picked it up again, but now I had no idea where I was or where it would end. Fortunately two wood nymphs and their leashed servant beast came to my aid. Pressing on would surely be my demise they warned, and then giggled. I turned back.
Spent the morning modifying an old multi-band radio, the CCRadio2E, which provides AM/FM/Ham/Weather. The standard AC power cable for this radio does not fit snugly into its socket, causing it to lose power. It can run off four D cells when AC power is not available. Here, I've modified it with a USB-A cable to run off 5V power by re-routing the battery leads, and I'm running it with an external rechargeable lithium-iron-phosphate battery. A solar panel charging controller provides USB outputs.
Blooming Stevia
#BloomScrollingThe Brahma Kamala bud flowered on Thursday night.
Our Brahma Kamala plant is close to flowering. The flower bud grows out of the side of the leaf. We raised this plant for about six years before its first flowering, a few months ago. The flower is quite beautiful and fills the room with a pleasant odor, though it wilts after only a day or two.
It is not the island of Gont, but it is an island in a Northern sea. More than 400 years ago a wizard lived on this island and the ship that bore us to the island is named after the wizard's castle, which was razed after he left the island. The wizard's work here was the foundation for understanding planetary motion in our solar system. Visiting the island had been one of the items in my bucket list.
#travel #astronomyLooking forward to reading this SF book which I just checked out of the library.

Getting there with the kaida from the first tabla lesson. Here is a recording clip from today's practice, at a faster pace. Have to improve staying on beat and the sound of a couple of strokes (Thun and Dhin). The playback is flat from my phone's speaker (bass is attenuated) but sounds fine through headphones.
