Whilst I have not tested <https://itsfoss.com/install-xfce-desktop-xubuntu/> @itsfoss (2023) the page is, at a glance, consistent with <https://www.reddit.com/r/Ubuntu/comments/x1urvi/install_xfce_desktop_on_top_on_ubuntu_2204_server/imgtdiw/> (2022).

I chose Ubuntu 25.04 as my base for Kubuntu. I overlooked your comment about Ubuntu (sorry) because the installer made it so simple for me to get root-on-ZFS; and I love simplicity.

Xubuntu 26.04 LTS (beta) - Installation with FDE failed. The preconfigured encrypted setup option, failed with Python arguments errors. And manually configured and partitioned setup failed, because it did not detect device mapped root correctly -> not possible to install on it. Let’s hope the final version fixes these both annoying issues. I did update the installer with latest version just before running the install, so the image had even older installer, which I didn’t use. #Xubuntu #LTS #LUKS2 #FDE #fail #installation #Linux

Xubuntu 25.10 > do-release-upgrade -d > 26.04 beta The firmware is now split by vendor. One would expect only the x86 firmware to be included. But I also see e.g. a /lib/firmware/arm directory.
