NYC Mayoral candidate Michael Blake's answers to the Times had me ready to rank him first but this makes me think he might be too radical for this city, or even this world

NYC mayoral election is in full swing. Big Zohran Mamdani mailer arrived yesterday that said to rank him first but did not say: who else to rank? How to rank? Why it is important to fill all five slots? And most importantly, whom not to rank.

This is not the path to victory. This is the path to a glorious defeat and a future as the "hope of the Democratic party" while not getting anything done.

None of this excuses the reason for the ride which was the recent decision by NYPD to issue criminal summonses to bike users who violate even the most minor traffic laws, and many who have violated no law such as leaving a bike unlocked for a minute, proceeding with the walk indicator, or riding with no helmet. #bikenyc

Despite a pretty big group, about 800 people, we almost never had the typical New York problem of filtering forward into traffic and ending up in conflict with dozens of drivers. Cyclists were patient and let the traffic clear ahead of us which meant that we could stay together as a unified group. I'm sure some people found it boring to go so slow but I found it delightful to be riding with bikes and not mixed up with cars. We even kept the bus lanes clear on 5th avenue

Having the cyclists suddenly on foot meant that far more people were willing to cork where there was any chance that a driver was about to hero through the group. It made the i intersections calm and peaceful, eliminating all provocations and bag vibes. People are just nicer when on foot than when on any kind of wheels. They have more physical control of their body and don't feel the impunity of speed.
