🎉 #HappyBirthday to us! 🎈 Yay! #OnThisDay 6 years ago, #CyberValley was launched: https://cyber-valley.de/en/news/startschuss-fur-das-cyber-valley
A big thanks to everyone who has helped us develop this unique #AI ecosystem that aims to promote the exchange between #research and application!

Intelligent systems will shape our future: they could drive us as autonomous cars, help us out in the home on a daily basis or perform medical services as tiny robots. An initiative by the Max Planck Society and the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in the Stuttgart-Tübingen area is bringing together partners from science and industry to establish Cyber Valley where systems can be developed that will be capable of performing such feats. Winfried Kretschmann, Minister-President of Baden-Württemberg, Theresia Bauer, Minister of Science in Baden-Württemberg and Martin Stratmann, President of the Max Planck Society, together with the other project participants, have launched the initiative on Thursday, 15 December 2016 in Stuttgart's Neues Schloss.

A group of funding agencies from various countries around the world (https://www.researchsoft.org/funders-forum) is discussing the possibility of issuing a joint multilateral call to fund projects related to Research Software. The goal is to strengthen the software infrastructure aimed specifically at supporting research. (Research Software includes source code, scripts, computational workflows, and executables created to support the research process. Software components (e.g., operating systems, libraries, dependencies, packages, scripts, etc.) that are used for research but were not created with a clear research intent should be considered software in research and not Research Software.) We would like to receive feedback from the international scientific community to understand the needs of scientists with regard to funding the development and enhancement of Research Software, as well the associated ecosystems (e.g., training, education, and policy). This will help us in crafting a joint multilateral funding initiative. The information you provide will be used internally by the funding agencies working under the ReSA Funders Forum (https://www.researchsoft.org/funders-forum) and won't be disseminated outside of this group. Providing your name and email is optional, and it might be used to contact you in case we need more information from you to base our decision on designing the call for proposals.
