Prace nad iPhone’em 18 już wpływają na globalny łańcuch dostaw, donosi The Elec.

Samsung Electronics rozszerza produkcję sensorów obrazu, a jego partner – Doosan Tesna – ogłosił inwestycję o wartości 123 mln USD w nowe systemy testowe od firm Advantest i Semes.

Nowa linia produkcyjna Samsunga w Austin (Teksas) ma dostarczać sensory do iPhone’a 18 od 2027 roku, co może zakończyć wieloletnią dominację Sony w dostawach aparatów dla Apple. Zmiana ma związek z wcześniejszymi opóźnieniami w dostawach Sony w latach 2023–2024.

Dzięki tej inwestycji Samsung może stać się drugim głównym dostawcą sensorów aparatu dla Apple, a produkcja w USA pozwoli firmie z Cupertino ograniczyć zależność od japońskich partnerów.
