Old, but still relevant and still funny.

I am still seeing tons of articles in the mainstream media about how Democrats need to win back disaffected Trump voters. This is despite the data which clearly shows that Trump's vote did not increase significantly over 2020, but rather that Democratic voters voted in substantially smaller numbers.

I see no articles about how Democrats need to energize their base to vote, which is what the data indicates. The mainstream narrative is pure bullshit.

@simon I'm guessing they count at least 5 days a week but in order to publish reports they probably need to go though some procedure that isn't negligible, so they only report every other day to have more time for counting.
"The lady at the charity shop today told me she wishes ppl wd clear out their kids' old toys in the lead up to Xmas rather than after because she always sees parents in the days before Xmas looking for toys for their little ones who might be strapped for cash. She said there's rarely anything in before, but they get many toys after.
If you know your child is going to get lots of presents for Xmas this year, by clearing out early you could make another child's Xmas a lot more special."
@simon @jacob I think autonomous cars have a lot of similar problems though, for example maybe bias against cyclists and cutting things close with them, or sensor limitations/bad training data not being as likely to identify black people. I guess one difference is maybe/hopefully there is stronger incentive to solve those issues when the consequences are a lot more immediate and clear.
@inthehands fwiw, in the US, once the new ones are approved, the old ones are no longer offered. If you can get an appointment somewhere, it will be the new one unless there is a big screw up somewhere.
I was doing an activity with my youngest and then told him I had to go back to work. As I walked over to my laptop he said “Okay, go touch your letters daddy.” which is such an amazing burn.
@pamelafox maybe everyone just already has too much junk already? Gifts are probably mostly duplicative/unnecessary at least in middle income and above, which means you have to deal with what to do with unwanted stuff.

Some of the pro-Israel counter protesters are also associated with local Proud Boy and Three Percenter militia chapters and fundamentalist Christian churches.
