Dear Friends in the Land of Oz,

I sometimes use EasyOS #Linux (posting from version Easy Excalibur64 7.2.5 (amd64)
Binary Base #devuan
Distro Base excalibur)

AND:

I found #Signal secure #messaging (it was in the last of the available package managers (flapi from 'Flatpack' installs)

And it seems to work. Will do a video call tomorrow to check it out.

#EasyOS is constantly in Alpha mode (Experimental) But I am happy to run it from a persistent USB flashdrive...

So, I rescued a 12-year-old Macbook Pro, given up by its owner because Apple had orphaned it from security updates, and also it was suffering from Apple High-Qwality Spicy Pillow Syndrome.

I replaced the battery and installed Linux on it.

And I gotta say, this was the most satisfying thing I've done with a keyboard in years:

# apt-get purge systemd libnss-systemd

#Devuan Excalibur installed/upgraded from Debian Trixie like a champ. Now I don't have to deal with extraneous horseshit when Lennart adds systemd-mountd, systemd-sshd, systemd-bourne-shell, systemd-emacs, etc, etc...

Thanks to @landley for the post that finally convinced me to give Devuan a go. I'd been thinking about it for years, but didn't feel like setting aside a bunch of debugging time which I assumed would be needed.

Now to figure out how to switch to s6 from runit. ( @ska )

I am really happy with how this turned out. This is Linux running on a Mac Mini computer.

This Mac Mini released in 2014 hasn't been officially supported by Apple for current versions of macOS for quite a few years now. This became a problem for the owner of this computer, as websites stopped working right in the badly outdated web browser.

This is Devuan Linux with KDE desktop environment and a theme that is styled to look a bit like macOS. I think it looks great and is a good match for the Mac Mini hardware.

@sonicdesktop hola, he seguido los pasos para instalar #sonicde en #devuan y me da el siguiente error de dependencia. Por si me pueden indicar como solucionarlo. Gracias
I am exporing KDE, via Devuan on a Mac Mini. Mostly quite quick to navigate. Here's problem I ran into but haven't solved yet. I did try to find answers on my own, but still stuck.

The Discover app looks quite promising. However, when I click to install an app from the apps.kde.org website, it opens the Discover app but I get this error:

"could not open appstream://org.kde.discover.desktop because it was not found in any available software repositories"

I am not sure how to add the KDE apps website to the Discover repositories.

Is this a common error? Or do you think it is Debian or Devuan specific error? I haven't yet tried on my Artix Linux installation, as that is currently in a different location.

Okay, I've got a bunch of work to do...

... but I'd also like to install Devuan Linux with KDE Plasma on a ThinkCentre Tiny.

Which is also productive work, as I want to test it out as an option to pre-install for customers who want Linux, but not urgent at all.

In related news, I am gearing up to start a weekly computer giveaway.
