The community-driven Sonic Desktop Environment aims for keeping and improving the X11-specific ascpects of KDE.

Rumor already has it, and it's true. We’re currently working on removing #Wayland support from #SonicDE and the underlying forked libraries. This will pave the way for us to focus on preserving and improving our #X11 version of #KDE #Plasma 6.
#SonicDE third-party packages are now available for #Debian and #Devuan. They are compiled for both the #amd64 and #arm64 architectures. You're welcome to test the packages and to contribute at https://github.com/sonicde-debian/debian .
We're happy to announce yet another porting effort for #SonicDE, this time to #FreeBSD. You're welcome to contribute, test the ports, and create more at https://github.com/sonicde-freebsd .

We're happy to announce that some of our contributors started to create ebuilds for #SonicDE on #Gentoo #Linux. You're welcome to join them, test the ebuilds, and create more at https://github.com/sonicde-gentoo. #GentooLinux

@kde About:

That's a clear statement and allows for a variety of platforms. Maybe this should also be communicated to KaOS as they just said:

> Work is ongoing to see if a move to Dinit is viable for this distribution, that also meant, looking for an alternative to Plasma, since Plasma pretty much demands Systemd, and will be fully mandatory soon.

@Bro666 As it turned out, the “we” only referred to PLM, and so vermaden made a correction on the next day at https://mastodon.social/@vermaden@bsd.cafe/115940451929365518. Eight days later, you called him a liar.

We don't believe that @vermaden has anything against KDE on BSD. We think, and we may indeed be a little biased here, that KDE Plasma is one of the most comprehensive DEs on at least FreeBSD and OpenBSD, if not "the." Who would want to change that?

But vermaden is welcome to say so himself. 2/2

@Bro666 We prefer a communication style that strives for understanding.

To the point: We said that someone **could** interpret something in a certain way. Subjunctive. Nothing more.

We understand that both @vermaden and you care about the well-being of their favorite projects. One is FreeBSD, the other is KDE. When it appeared that KDE might no longer support FreeBSD, vermaden reported on it and interpreted the “We” in the commit message as KDE/Plasma and not as PLM. 1/2

We've started implementing a #Vulkan backend for the sonic-win window manager. That's an alternative to #OpenGL and could bring us a step closer to #HDR rendering. Please see https://github.com/Sonic-DE/sonic-win/issues/13 . #SonicDE

@anders Thank you. We're excited too!
#SonicDE was introduced today as a spin of the new #Vendefoul Wolf #Linux series #Viriato. Viriato is based on #Devuan 7 Freia with kernel 6.18. You can download the testing ISO at https://vendefoul-wolf-linux.sourceforge.io, scrolling through to "VENDEFOUL SONICDE - DEVUAN 7."
