In 2020, we all took some solace in the Nature is Healing memes, even the silly ones. But the thing is, with even the slightest nudge in the right direction, even the smallest relief from our boot on its neck, it does. Nature does heal and reclaim.

We knew salmon were returning to Upper Klamath Lake after the dam removal there. But now we know they are breeding, and making the first natural hatchlings there in over 100 years. This is great news.

@tef I feel this often at work. Every time I look at the terraform based setup we have for our services (AWS ECS), it makes me want to put state inside a real database and have a simple process/daemon orchestrate service updates.

Granted, I'm most likely "holding it wrong", but some of this is things I've "inherited" and there have always been other pressing things to focus on so this has been on the back burner for a while 😅

@deech I have fond memories of SMLNJ from Dan Grossman’s coursera course on programming languages!! It introduced me to ML style languages and is what led me to exploring and using OCaml (and most likely is what helped move up in my career by helping me be better about being curious and open to exploring new things. OCaml also opened some doors even if the jobs themselves ended up moving away from it)
