Pretty cool that SMLNJ is (1) still pretty active and (2) moved their backend to LLVM, release upcoming (3) bootstrappable from a minimal-ish toolchain on Linux.

@deech I have fond memories of SMLNJ from Dan Grossman’s coursera course on programming languages!! It introduced me to ML style languages and is what led me to exploring and using OCaml (and most likely is what helped move up in my career by helping me be better about being curious and open to exploring new things. OCaml also opened some doors even if the jobs themselves ended up moving away from it)
