The forum never got online very long, and not reliably, and no one ever registered 😂

I owe my career to the movie The Big Lebowski.

When I watched it as a young teenager, I wanted to find other people enjoying it so I did my best to setup a PHP forum hosted at home, there were not many choice early 2000 and I struggled a lot to figure how to make apache work with PHP, how to enable port forwarding on my router, how to make mysql work, how to get a domain name (from services like no-ip or dyndns  ).

The time has finally come: #KDE Plasma 6.4 has landed in #OpenBSD

Have a nice weekend!

I updated obsdfreqd man page and sources README to report that OpenBSD now has a hw.perfpolicy sysctl that can be set to "auto" to restore the old behaviour.

Thanks to @morgant who also sent a patch to enhance the man page :)

Typst is a wonderful open-source tool to create great looking documents. I wrote a small blog post about Typst and using it on OpenBSD: https://yuce.me/posts/typst-workflow-on-openbsd/ #openbsd #typst

I'm looking to venture into vinyl audio, I got recommendations to start with

- Player Audio-Technica LP60XBTBK
- 2x monitoring speakers M-AUDIO BX5

Does it sound reasonable?

I know I like to listen to music, but I never heard music from a vinyl, I wonder if it's really different from my 24 bits 48 kHz FLAC... ?

I am starting to think that basically @prahou 's artwork is the glue that binds the BSD community together; both the #Plan9 and the #OpenBSD website feature his stuff on the frontpage. (Of course so do we at https://openbsdonapple.wiki because we are a very serious entity).
Welcome to the OpenBSD on Apple Devices Wiki! [OpenBSD on Apple]

It’s been one month since #Guix migrated to Codeberg.

We’ve had 138 code contributors on that month compared to 102 on the previous month according to Git, or +35%.

Of course it’s too small a sample to draw any conclusion but let’s hope it continues that way.

Liebe Folglinge,

@sizeofvoid Is it really running well on OpenBSD? Just asking because I know that all of these large Desktop environments require lots of Linux specific stuff under the hood and not everything might work smooth on the BSDs.
@NebulaTide i don't know about FreeBSD but on OpenBSD it is my daily driver.
@sizeofvoid Oh, this was a mistake. Want to write Open, but then Free came out 😆 But cool, so it’s working for you without any issues?
@NebulaTide I would say it solves more problems than it creates. I particularly appreciate power management (I don't need apmd), display configuration, system settings and once you've set up all your shortcuts, it makes you really productive.
@sizeofvoid I thought OpenBSD had some Wayland support already? The CVS commit message seems to imply that it doesn't work on OpenBSD...
@neal Yes, but I haven't managed to get startplasma-wayland up and running yet. It still needs a lot of hacks. I haven't found the time or the priority yet.
@sizeofvoid Awesome thank you so much.

@sizeofvoid This is fantastic! The last time I took this for a spin, I would hard crash when using the built-in application search. There was a workaround I believe, but is that resolved with this launch now?

Cheers!

@bt This and all other important topics are covered in /usr/local/share/doc/pkg-readmes/kde-plasma. Please read it carefully and you will have a lot of fun with KDE Plasma on OpenBSD. For example "usermod -L kde your-user-name" will fix the your built-in application search crash.
