Excellent video essay on tech billionaires, fascists, AI, and our future. It's long and worth it.

Plenty of @pluralistic citations too.

Oh boy here we go again.

I’m looking for work! SDE, DevRel, etc, focusing on Go, C#, Python, etc. Remote is mandatory (WA US locale)

Email hireme@atdot.xyz with info and we can talk.

@arch @soatok @patterfloof that's a nice start. But I believe that's price for a single person to buy single page. Their thing is "scrape once, access everywhere", so that should be multiplied by, oh, say 1% of their user count.
@bagder "create issues with copilot" is such a beautiful description for it because it is so unintentionally true. all it does is create issues LMAO

I've been talking to GitHub and giving them feedback on their "create issues with Copilot" thing they have in the works.

Today I tested a version for them and using it I asked copilot to find and report a security problem in curl and make it sound terrifying.

In about ten seconds it had a 100-line description of a "catastrophic vulnerability" it was happy to create an issue for. Entirely made up of course, but sounded plausible.

Proved my point excellently.

I like how the last five years have flipped the default expectations from "I need to work from home today because I'm expecting a delivery" to "I need to work from the office today because there's building work"
@soatok @patterfloof ISO lays out the standard page access price. Which is the one free standard it offers.
My take: this was inevitable from someone. Enforcing it across many sites with valuable “content” (there’s a better term but I’m failing to conjure it right now) is tricky. This will obviously drive more people to Cloudflare short term, which… not great for the health/decentralisation of the internet, but hopefully acts as a good PoC that others implement it (like Anubis does for proof of work bot blocking).
Time will tell how this shakes out…… https://blog.cloudflare.com/introducing-pay-per-crawl/
Introducing Pay per crawl- enabling content owners to charge AI crawlers for access

Pay per crawl is a new feature to allow content creators to charge AI crawlers for access to their content.
