Pfizer just announced that its Lyme disease vaccine reduced the number of tick-borne infections by over 70% in a phase 3 trial.

Warning: GSK pulled a Lyme vaccine in 2002 despite studies showing it posed no serious safety risks.

Any new Lyme vaccine is going to be a huge target for antivaxxers.

Handing my partner a glucosamine supplement as I take one, like: “if it’s good fer dags’ joints it’s probly good fer yers” (we grew up in the same small redneck city in Alberta, for context)
J: “that’s your sales pitch?!”
Me: “YUP.” #aging
its time for possibly my most fedi-pandering post. i found a zine on archive.org that's just 150 years of cats attacking cops

Before I get around to sharing some pics of the winter hikes I got up to this week, I thought I’d share my soulmate/ familiar who was thrilled when I returned home!

This is Trillian (feel free to let me know if you get the reference).

I adopted her from a shelter where she was still recovering from a broken pelvis in 2016, to help support my mental wellness, and we’ve taken care of each other ever since. At 11 years old now, she’s a “senior” cat but she’s still spry and playful as can be, happily full of zoomies and snuggles. #catsofmastodon #HHGTTG

It’s important that in movement building we are honest about the abuse of power, most often enacted by men who are leaders and mentors. Non-men hold movements together, sometimes this has even happened through keeping silent about serious violence/ assault, this cannot be the present or future we allow.

I know I been quieter around these parts lately. Truth is I'm entirely burnt the fuck out, I've hit a wall, and I could use some help getting back up.

I hadn’t realized when I booked that the cabin was a former timeshare with its own history at the site, so I was imagining something small, and made sure I booked a spot with a kitchen. There’s no functioning ski hills or other popular winter activities nearby, meaning it’s not the high season for this spot, and wasn’t too costly. All this adds up to me being delighted to discover a whole small “chalet” style cabin!
I booked a cabin at a former timeshare near a long defunct ski-hill for my love’s birthday and ohboy, this wasn’t for me but what a gift to also experience! We’re also intentionally unplugging here, but being so new to mastodon, I couldn’t resist coming to share.

Hello dear fediverse,

I’m Osden, a visual artist (sculpture, installation, video, & more) deeply interested in human/non-human relationships, art as speculative fiction, more just futures, ecological responsibility, and place-responsive & community engaged art.

I’m masc-leaning & non-binary, pansexual; Mad & chronically ill; a uni prof in studio art; kinda wordy; and go by Sheri as a professional/public pseudonym.

Cycling, hiking, seed harvesting, seed bombs, DIY community projects, & harm reduction are some of my great loves. I’m nerdy about native plants & hide-tanning; forever in awe of nature.

Doing my best to enact care in the face of so much local and global injustice. 🆓 🇵🇸
