But scientists found a hidden pocket which they designed a new drug called daraxonrasib to bind to and lock the protein in an off state.

While not yet a cure, having a pill that can double survival time is a massive breakthrough that will form a solid basis for many more improvements to come!

In 90% of pancreatic cancers there is a mutation in the KRAS gene that causes uncontrolled cell growth. It was once considered an “undrugable” target because the KRAS protein lacks deep pockets for drugs to bind and KRAS binds extremely tightly to its cellular “fuel” (GTP).
Pancreatic is the deadliest form of cancer with a 5-year survival rate of 13%, largely as early tumors rarely cause symptoms as the pancrease is hidden behind other internal organs and there is a lack of a reliable early screening test.

Incredible! Scientists receive a rare standing ovation after announcing that a new treatment can double the survival time for pancreatic cancer, the deadliest cancer which was once considered “undruggable.”

When we fund and support science, we can achieve anything!

Artemis II has been a much needed celebration of science, competency, and humanity.

But reminder: the White House is proposing cutting NASA’s budget by billions.

If you’ve loved watching our astronauts, don’t forget to call your representatives and urge them to keep funding science.

The CDC has delayed the publication of a report showing that the Covid vaccine significantly reduced the likelihood of hospitalizations and emergency visits last winter.

This is a clear example of putting politics over science at the cost of lives.

Dr. Jay Bhattacharya objected to the study’s methodology, saying it gave an inaccurate picture of the vaccine’s benefits.
