I ride slowly…

60+ years on two wheels. Currently ride an Xtracycle, Bridgestone RB-T, Trek 970, and Raleigh Grand Prix. Looking at replacing the Xtracycle with a Larry vs Harry Bullitt Cargo Bike.

For lazy days , there's a #Vespa in the shed, too.

Header photo snagged from Bing Images without permission...

I also hike a bit, camp in a #squaredrop tiny trailer, travel the country, and amateur photographer.

We’ve seen a lot more white-crowned sparrows this year than I can ever remember. We see them often in and under the giant rhododendron in our front yard where the American Robins like to nest. Maybe they’re building in there, too.

And, another colorful visitor! Grape jelly seems to be a winner for three Baltimore Orioles. We also put out live mealworms to attract Eastern Bluebirds to the new nesting box.

Actually, I’ll expand on that. Mostly out of curiosity, hearing about Mastodon in an article about Musk and Twitter.

I have five interest-specific Twitter accounts going back to 2008, and on four of them I’ve posted less than 50 times total. (The other is an automated weather broadcast every other hour from my weather station to the local community) I only use them to follow very specific sports or event, not to interact. If Twitter goes away, I don’t know how I’d get this information in a timely manner.

I’m not a Musk fan or hater, but not fond of how much “perceived” power he (or anyone like him) has.

Not having ads is good. Free is good. We’ll see if that’s sustainable.

@V_olivaceus Thank you! Photography has been my favorite hobby for 60 years as of my birthday last September. I received a Brownie Bullet camera for my 8th birthday and still have it. Not a pro by any means, but it makes documenting other interests more fun.

I have never heard of i naturalist, but I will definitely look into it. The only similar app I’ve used is eBird, which didn’t work for me. I’m not a serious #birder so don’t need or want a single day birding list. I want an app version of my birding life list booklet, which I have columns for life, Ohio, old house, current house, and photo. The paper book still seems the easiest way to keep track.

Thanks for commenting!

@Kichae So cool! My father and grandfather were high school shop teachers, and had extensive home shops. I never really got into it until years after I moved away. We have a lot of their tools and beautiful pieces of furniture. A now 100+ year old secretary, and my granddaughter is now the fifth generation to sleep in a cherry bed Grandpa made.
@TOC Thank you!
Seems I can only add four photos.

New digs, hoping to attract Eastern Bluebirds back to our yard. Bluebird nest box from @teamwhitehorse on Facebook.

Bonus this morning were several Rose Breasted Grosbeaks on their way to Canada. This was the first time in the 31 years we’ve lived here that Rose Breasted Grosbeak have visited. We’ve seen them at our previous house, but never here.

Also out this morning were our usual Northern Cardinals and American Goldfinch, who have enjoyed Deb feeding them all winter.

Today’s project:

Our Dad’s Estwing hammer that built his and Mom’s house 65 years ago, finished Thanksgiving 1957. Now rust and paint free, but with most of the nicks and scratches remaining. You won’t find tools like this today.
