Open source Minnesotan, making Veridian Expanse (@vexpanse). I made the Chipmunk2D physics engine, and some other fun libraries. By day, I do a lot of game adjacent work like therapeutic VR, real time drone mapping, and math for heavy machinery.

Devstream for @vexpanse went well again! Now I’m sitting under a tree while Tigger helps me with my writing. #indiedev #cats

Tune in to the Veridian Expanse devstream! Today I'll be working on making the terrain decorations destructible so you can chew through them with the laser drill. Starts in a little over an hour. #gamedev #indiegame https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSAP-XsRyjQ

Well this looks fascinating. Will have to put it on my reading list for this weekend. (ping @erin_catto)

Alliance Peacefighter is out now!

This was a labour of love that's taken over 5 years of my spare time, and a game I've wanted to make since I played Wing Commander back in the early nineties. Really hope you like it.

A linear, story-driven space sim in the style of 90s classics like X-Wing and Wing Commander. As a newly qualified Alliance pilot, you find yourself caught up in a plot to break the fragile peace between two galactic superpowers.

Ouch, Adventure Gamers website owner sold it, and now it's basically a site to advertise gambling.
Heh. So I can reliably whistle up to about 2.3 khz, then there’s a big gap until about 10 khz. https://infosec.exchange/@sudorandom/114704013454618750

Long before the internet, some phone networks were hackable by playing a single tone at 2600Hz. Whistled into a phone, it could grant you unrestricted access. Do you have the vocal chops to be an old-school phone phreak? I built a web app to test your ability to produce the legendary frequency. You won't get free long distance calls but you will get some honor in the knowledge that you could have been a cool hacker. 😎 I am sad to say that I can only whistle up to 1100Hz... But my wife (a long time woodwind player) is able to consistently get it. Give it a try: https://phreak.kmcd.dev/ #phreaking #2600Hz #bluebox #RetroComputing #hacker #infosec #Tech

You're probably getting tired of hearing me say this, but today's #APOD is a real looker.

A different astronomy and space science related image is featured each day, along with a brief explanation.

I haven't been posting about Veridian Expanse lately... So here's the newly reworked digging mechanic! I changed it from a laser to this plasma drill sort of thing. It arguably looks even cooler and gives the player more input. I might need to tone down the spalling though. >_< #gamedev #indiegame
