My wife (a retired coder) and I are gritting our teeth with anxiety as we await the result of this election.

She has been distracting herself by creating a spreadsheet of all of the polling and early voting data in a spreadsheet so that she can make her own estimates of how the election is going so far. It doesn’t matter how close she gets to the actual results, it is the activity that matters.

She calls it “therapeutic math”.

I love her so much.

I think that we as a country would be better served if politicians were required to have a license to use triggering words. Examples might include fascist, Marxist, and communist. In order to be granted a usage license you must be able to define the word as shown by creating a meaningful sentence that includes the word, as in most primary school curricula.

Name calling for the sake of spewing seemingly negative words does nobody any good.
