Martin Sonneborn hatte darüber berichtet, dass die Vertreter der Biden-Regierung, die #EU-Politiker gewarnt haben, dass wahrscheinlich #Trump wieder Präsident werden könnte, aber alle Warnungen nicht Ernst nahmen. Sie waren überzeugt, dass #Kamala Harris gewinnt und waren dann am Wahlabend geschockt.

This report is half right.

It says that Dems wanted stronger more liberal candidates than they got, so they didn't vote. This is what the sponsor of the report wants so no surprise there. I agree that Dems don't want tepid moderate candidates. But that's not why they didn't turn out.

@dmitry @Tengrain At this point the prevailing opinion is that #Kamala was a terrible candidate. I’m not sure I buy that. She was a county district attorney, a state attorney general, and a senator. That isn’t a bad CV any way you slice it. I know that some people were unhappy that there wasn’t a mini primary or open convention or whatever after #Biden dropped out, but that would have just led to chaos, in my humble opinion. The perfect candidate wouldn’t have magically arisen. I do think Kamala made some tactical errors, trying too hard to obtain votes from those who would never give them to her anyway. But I’m convinced she would have been a fine president, and certainly should have been.

@thekitmalone Given how the #Democratic Party has treated losing Presidential candidates in the past, I don’t think anyone need worry about a 2028 #Kamala candidacy. Thinking about Mondale and Dukakis, who were essentially disowned, and if Jimmy Carter hadn’t carved out an absolutely astounding post-Presidential life you would have never heard anything about him either. I can’t help but wonder if the idea that #Kamala wasn’t really presidential material was a self-fulfilling prophecy that everyone unquestionably accepted. She seemed pretty sharp to me, but maybe that’s just me.
