I'm currently planting and building a #foodforest garden in the 🇨🇦 #pnw. I like to cook and eat locally grown and foraged food.

I work for a local conservation and food security non-profit.

I am interested in the places where food, #history, culture, and #gardening intersect.

Anti-capitalist temporarily stuck within the confines of capitalism.

Eat like a peasant.

the first frost the other morning was very pretty in the yard. I like fall a lot, but I really struggle with winter approaching! the only thing I've got is that winter is a necessary valley in the cycle, but that ain't much by itself.
new portrait just dropped
Took advantage of the sunny break in the weekend's cloudy weather yesterday to go on a family nature walk on the logging roads behind the neighbourhood. We tried #geocaching for the first time, and maybe we did it wrong, but we definitely had to tromp off-trail way too much for my liking. #fungi #mushrooms 🍄
Elderberry from a few days ago. Spring is about ready to go round here!

Everytime I log in to Instagram, I see an endless supply of racist, bigoted, vile shit in the comments, regardless of topic. This time I saw a supposed humour page, where folks are complaining about servers earning their wages via tips, and having to tip appropriately, and Instagram won't let me call them assholes.

???

Took some photos by the mighty Fraser of some flowering shrubs last week, one is hamamelis, the other I forget!

The lighting was grey and moody near dusk although the weather was incredibly warm.

Happy New Year!

God damn, Instagram reels consistently puts the most racist, ignorant, backwards comments as the top comments on every single video, even videos about rocks. The system is designed to amplify the idiots and fill the internet with garbage noise and calls it "engagement"

Joke's on me for wasting my time I suppose...

I flew over greenland on my way home from Europe last month, which was really cool.
Can anyone tell me what kind of nut these are? I found them in a botanical garden in Prague with no label on the tree. Some kind of walnut family plant.
