Wie man Menschen das Böllern abgewöhnt 😂

Still really genuinely angry at how much the passkey rollout has fucked up the flows for anyone using a security key.

Fuck forcing people to set pins on hardware tokens. Fuck defaulting to allowing a hardware token to log in without the password. Fuck making every mobile device you own a first class token and making login attempt spam a thing again.

I get that passwords are broken. I don't have a problem with the idea behind passkeys as such for less-technical users (although fuck vendor lock-in and non-portable credentials), but do not fuck over technical users trying to protect critical systems by breaking their workflows or destroying basic security primitives.

While freshening up my cluster with Envoy Gateway I stumbled upon this real nice blog post by Huabing.
Good explanation of the concepts of EG and Gateway API

Beyond Gateway API: Introducing Envoy Gateway's Gateway API Extensions

As the official Gateway Controller for the Envoy, Envoy Gateway provides full support for all the features of the Kubernetes Gateway API. In addition, Envoy Gateway extends the Gateway API by introducing a range of enhancements for traffic management, security features, and custom extensions that go beyond the standard API. In this post, we’ll dive into these Envoy Gateway extensions and explore their use cases.

FWIW... a bit more then 10 1/2 years ago I asked some people on twitter I did not know if I could help to make this bsides thing happen aside to ccc congress in hamburg, because congress had more good submissions for the security track then they could host.I was so scared, about all of it. But I wanted to help to make it happen, and I did. And it was one of the better things I did in my life because It started some development I could not have imagined at the time.

Lots of stuff changed over the years, the core people, the label, I changed, and so on... had the possibility to meet many interesting people over the years
It's called #elbsides by now, it's not parallel to ccc anymore for years, it's even at a different time of the year.

Tomorrow we will have another episode loaded with super interesting talks. We ware sold out since yesterday. ~180 seats in hall. It kind of blews my mind.

now  and tomorrow

Can't wait until next Friday for Elbsides 2025 to happen.
Don't miss this opportunity to get inspired, informed and connect.

We are nearly sold out - register now to be part of the #ITSecurity community in #Hamburg on June 13th.
