As Twitter alternatives pop up, it’s natural to try to generalise about them. But “BlueSky is this” and “the fediverse is that” are misleading. Even with 100k users, BS can’t be one thing to everyone. It feels hyper American to me, but how can I know what it is? But @damon is right: first impressions get amplified. If you came here and someone hassled you or lectured you, here is hassle and you’ll tell others. If you went there and something irked you, there is irk, and same. This is how we lose sight of what we’re all trying to achieve: ways out of Twitter’s moral quicksand that let people stay in touch and keep trying to fix things.

Short story: Guy goes on a trip with his wife. Takes a bunch of photos. Forgot to take off the lens cap for all of it. Goes home and has Midjourney generate all the images again. Wife can’t tell the difference. Guy lives another day.

I really want the weekend to happen. I need to just not do anything for a little bit. But that never happens even on the weekend.
