The German Greens have decided to support a basic European right to encryption. As this requires a majority in all member states of the European Union my next question would be how we can spread this idea and how to convince as many people as possible in the next years.
That’s what I want to talk about next Sunday at the Freedom not Fear Assembly on the #39c3 — meet me there at 15:00.
Edit: the date has been moved to day 4 at 14:00.

Traveling to the #UK from the EU seems to require a Smartphone with iOS or Android.
Here https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta#how-long-it-takes they state that you can also apply for an ETA online.
But on the "apply online" page https://apply-for-an-eta.homeoffice.gov.uk/apply/electronic-travel-authorisation/easier-on-the-app they only mention the app.
@sendung @signalapp There is no official way. On Github are various issues (5+ years old), closed as “not planned" (https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-iOS/issues/967 ) or dupes. Their community forum currently doesn't load for me 🤷♂️, but there are various posts from Signal "explaining" that they probably will never add export anywhere again and consider the Android export option a mistake (allegedly b/c of maintenance burden).
Long story short: Signal should not be used if you want your history to be backed up.
