Traveling to the #UK from the EU seems to require a Smartphone with iOS or Android.

Here https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta#how-long-it-takes they state that you can also apply for an ETA online.

But on the "apply online" page https://apply-for-an-eta.homeoffice.gov.uk/apply/electronic-travel-authorisation/easier-on-the-app they only mention the app.

It's a mystery to me how so many website owners value their user tracking data higher than the user experience. Even if they are unlikely to get any value from tracking. In particular: not for profit organizations.

And like usual, as consumers, we just seem to adopt to shittiness instead of demanding better solutions.
