Shame on governments for setting up schemes where people have to upload sensitive identifying documents for verification and then farming the whole thing out to unreliable for-profit third parties. If you want your damn age gate crackdown at least you should have to take responsibility for the verification process

Otherwise, what, there's a leak and someone steals your identity and even though it's fully the government's fault they'll just go "take it up with the third party"? Completely absurd

one of the worst things to happen to the internet was facebook convincing businesses to set up a page there, in a shitty, closed, surveillance riddled ecosystem and not 'on the internet'.

Victorians: add it to your calendar - Defend Dissent Coalition has called a rally on the 5:30pm 12th of August 2025 at the Vic Parliament House to push back against the attacks on the right to protest by the Labor Victorian Government under the guise of so called "social cohesion".

If you're someone who believes in the right to protest, or you're not ok with the status quo, lets fight for our fundamental democratic rights before we lose them.

Government crackdowns on democracy have become more and more obscene and violent in recent years - pretty soon the only way to have a voice is to buy a petition or risk heavy oppression.

I went to one of the poorest, minority majority public high schools in our city and I came out with an education that ran circles around the private school kids.

But the point of private school isn't learning. It's teaching kids that segregation is normal and the wealthy are superior. Which is why those kids fail when exposed to the real world.
