Joined more than 40 locals to plant more than 730 plants this morning. This area was cleared of weeds to prepare for it. It's part of an important urban nature corridor along Norman Creek, connected to the bushcare site I usually volunteer at. A koala was spotted in this area not long ago, looks like they might be exploring beyond their Whites Hill and Toohey Forest hotspots.

slow music club 04
Season Three, Friday, August 7 at 07:00 PM GMT+10
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
…some space to sit and soak in sound
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
slow music club is an event series focused on illuminating artists who occupy the quieter corners.
It’s for those whose music rewards a considered ear in an attentive room. Season Three’s dedicated music space (upstairs at echo&bounce) is the perfect place to house this concept with the fourth iteration of the series featuring four local-ish acts whose sounds traverse slowcore, post-rock, neoclassical and improvisational terrains.
1900 // Doors
1915 // Noir et Blanc
2010 // Headland
2100 // Plainer
2200 // A.D. Heaven

4000 Records is incredibly proud to present:
NOIR ET BLANC
Meanjin based project Noir et Blanc sets out to fuse the relationship between neoclassical piano and modern film soundtracks.

HEADLAND
Headland is a collective that performs intuitively to projected film. In this configuration the collaborators will respond to images of live coral from Meanjin/Brisbane-based researcher Brett Lewis.
Performers will include Julia Beiers (bass), Lake Kelly (harp), Luke Peacock (guitar/synth) and Murray Paterson (guitar).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PLAINER
Plainer is a Meanjin-based song-disassembly ensemble. Minimalism attempted with as many people as possible. “Here for a long time, not a good time.” (sic) They’ve shared stages with Wednesday, Codeine, Florist, Alan Sparhawk, Papa M, and Cash Savage, and have played at Sonic Masala and Sonic Boom festivals.
Their debut album, ‘Partnerships' was released to quiet nods and kind words in March 2026.
MJ Lenderman once called them “a Monster Band”, which could mean several things.
𓃗 music from under the earth 𓃗
Spacious, unbounded, and in time, reverberant
Sounds like there is some *drama* going on between Queensland Rail and the train workers. Idk what the rail workers are asking for in the bargaining, but as a frequent QR train passenger I'm sure the workers deserve whatever it is they're asking for that QR is denying them!
In Annerley, we can smell the smoke from a hazard reduction fire in Karawatha. Relieved that it's not out of control, but still impressive to smell it this far.
Reminder that you can always check the Queensland Fire Department to know what's going on:
